Smiling!

Trey can wear clothes and appears to like it! He got up to 3 lbs. 5oz. And now back down to 3 lbs. 4 and a quarter oz. But he is over 1500 grams (1501) so he gets to wear a shirt now and he doesn't have the incubator helping him keep his temperature up anymore he has to do that on his own. He is trying to take two bottles now in a 24 hour period, which he is not having much luck with now but he is improving. He is still on three liters but he is only requiring about 27% oxygen on average. He still requires a feeding tube but the nurses can't keep one in him because he keeps pulling them out and pulling the tape off his face, so they are only putting one in when he eats. Thanks again for your prayers!

Improving little by little!

Trey is now three pounds three and a half ounces, and they have dropped him down to three liters on his vapotherm. This is amazing because they expected him to be on 4 for three weeks and he was only on it for ten days! He has also clearly expressed his favorite football team and this is very encouraging to his father! :)

Bottle time!

Naomi was able to feed Trey a bottle today. Apparently by the looks of the video - he enjoyed it :)

Growing like a weed! 3 lbs & 2 1/2 oz!

Trey is growing like a weed! He is up to three pounds two and a half ounces! He is still on four liters on the vapotherm. The doctor said he could be for up to three weeks because he is retracting a lot when he breaths. I'm sure you are wondering when he will get to come home. The doctor said if all goes well, the middle of May.

No News is good news!

No news is good news! Trey is about the same which is very good news. They have quit giving him lasix because he doesn't seem to need them any more. He's two pounds fifteen and three quarter ounces. We're hoping he goes over the three pound mark tomorrow.

Answered Prayer

Just got the eye exam and everything looks good. They want to check again in three weeks. Praise God for this!

Oygen level is coming down!

They have reduced Trey's liters to 4 toda,y so pray he does well. His potassium is high as well so they have taken that out of his feedings. They should be doing another eye exam any day since it's been three weeks since the first one that was too early to tell anything. We will update as soon as we get the results. Please keep this in your prayers!

Hanging tough at 2 lbs & 11 oz!

Another Good Day

Trey is having another good day. His oxygen requirements were down to 22 and he had a good blood gas this morning so the turned him down to 5 liters on the vapotherm. Naomi and I can't thank you enough for all your prayers! We both know that without your prayers he would not be where he is today! He is a very lucky boy to have so many people love him this much.

GREAT news!

Great news they took Trey off the cpap and put him back on the vapotherm and he's loving it! Not only does he look so much happier, but he is down to 25% on his oxygen requirements. Pray that he continues the progress and doesn't rebound again. His vapotherm is set at six liters so pray that will come down as well.

Improving...

Trey has continued to improve but they had to put a mitten on his hand and build this little wall to keep him from pulling out his cpap. I have no idea how he ever got so stubborn!

Good Night!

Trey had a great night last night. His oxygen is down to 37. And the doctors said if he keeps doing this good they will try to put him back on the vapotherm Monday! Pray he will gain weight now, as he has lost some weight because they have been trying to dry him out the last four days.

Got a text from James and he said that Trey is improving!! His oxygen level is down to 42% and his co2 is down to 72! His sodium level is also coming down!! There is still a ways to go, but any improvement is awesome!! Praise the Lord!!!

C-PAP

email from James: The c pap is helping. But as you can see he hates it. He has pulled it out four times. Pray that he will get used to it and that it continues to help. Right now it has brought his oxygen requirements under fifty.

*see posts/photos below for recent updates*

Bad Night

Trey did not have a good night.  They took him off of the vapotherm (oxygen through his nose) & put him on a C-Pap.  (kind-of the inbetween of the vapotherm and the vent)

They are going to reduce the "additives" to his feedings to see if that will help lower his fluid levels on his lungs.

I do not know any more specifics.  PLEASE pray for Trey to respond to the different things that the doctors are attempting to do for his breathing.  Pray especially for James & Naomi as it is hard to watch Trey go backwards.

PLEASE pray for Trey!

Trey has been having a difficult day. His O2 is up to 80% at the current moment (it has been higher today) & his Carbon Dioxide is at 82.

Current Plan
  • decrease feedings in hopes to "dry" him out - less fluids=easier time breathing
His chest x-ray came back showing the one lung still not opening properly & some concern the opposite lung also.

His vapotherm is still at 6 liters.

As of now, they have not intubated (put a vent back in)

PLEASE pray that they will be able to lower his settings & for NO vent.

Also, please continue to lift up James, Naomi, & the girls as this is a long emotional journey. Naomi is currently fighting a kidney infection & needs prayers for that also.

Thank you for continuing to lift Trey up to the Great Physician.

PRAY!

email from James' sister - James just sent me a text and said that Trey's o2 is up to 77%. They are giving him a blood transfusion right now. The doctors are holding off on putting him back on the vent, hoping that the transfusion will help bring that down.

PLEASE PRAY that Trey will not have to go back on the vent. Pray that his O2 levels & Vapotherm are able to be lowered.

A Step Backwards - PLEASE PRAY!

Trey has taken a step backward. They have had to bump him back up to six liters on his vapotherm last night and his oxygen requirement was at sixty. This makes him very close to having to go back on the ventilator again. Please pray this won't be the case.

2 lbs. & 10 oz.

Trey is up to two lbs ten ounces today. He is still at about 49% oxygen on 5 liters. He had a couple of episodes with his heart rate dropping yesterday please pray that this doesn't become regular for him. Thanks again so much for your prayers!

Doing better!

Trey's new bed!

They have dropped Trey down to five liters on his vapotherm! His oxygen is 48 and he is starting to look better! Praise God!

A good night!

Trey had a very good night last night. His oxygen is down to 43 percent. The doctors feel the weight he is gaining now is good weight , he is up to 2lbs 8oz! We are so proud of Trey for fighting so hard this past week and we are so thankful for all your prayers and support! Please continue to lift up Trey and our family. It is truly making a difference!

Trey Crying

Treys first cry on video. It looks sad, but it's very good for his lungs. Momma's hand came in to calm him down at the end.

No changes

email from James - Nothing has changed with Trey today. His oxygen is the at the same level of requirement it was at most the day yesterday. Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray that his oxygen requirement will drop and his left lung will open.

Update

Trey's oxygen requirements are dropping from 71% down to 57%!!! He is still at 6 liters on the Vapotherm. The doctor said that as long as his oxygen does not rise, they will keep him off of the vent. His sodium and potassium are stable, but they are continuing to subsidize these through his feedings. His chest x-ray has not changed. Not better, but praise the Lord not worse!!! The diuretic seems to be helping a little.

Morning update - KEEP PRAYING!

Trey gave Momma a little smile to encourage her!

Trey's oxygen is up to 65%. He is still at 6 liters on the Vapotherm. The doctors have also decided that Trey has Chronic Lung Disease. They believe that this recent downfall was because of fluid buildup on the lungs, as well as a rebound from the steriods. They are increasing his diuretic to get rid of the extra fluid. They are also going to give him potassium. They are trying to keep him from going back to the vent for as long as possible!! They weighed him and he is up to 2lbs. 8 ounces!!! Pray for James and Naomi-- they are very tired and hanging on!

see update below...

URGENT request - PLEASE PRAY!

They have increased his vapotherm up to 6 liters and his oxygen is up to 61%. This is the highest that they will go without putting him back on the vent! James asked that we pray special for this! As far as James knows, they are unsure as to why he is requiring so much help right now.

Updates

morning update- Trey did not have a good night at all.  They have had to increase his Vapotherm to 5 liters, increase his oxygen requirements, and they also had to give him a blood transfusion.  That is all I know this morning, but they were on their way back to the hospital.

afternoon update -  Trey does have an infection in his eye, but there is no infection in his lungs.

2nd update for Sunday

Trey's blood sugar is up.  He also has bacteria in his eye that they are going to culture and see what is going on.  They have begun giving him 2 antibiotics because he is showing signs of infection.

see update below for more info on what is happening with Trey today.

Important Prayer Request

Trey did not have a good night/morning.  They have increased his Vapotherm back up to 4 liters, and his oxygen requirement is back up to 52%.  They did a chest x-ray and his left lung is not opening as it should.  They are not sure if it is just the extra fluid they had to give him to try to get his sodium level up, or an infection, or a side effect of him coming off of the steroids.  They are giving him a diuretic to help with any extra fluid and will repeat a chest x-ray.

Pray for wisdom for the doctors & for James & Naomi.
